Comment on: Over 30 and want to attend college. Need Help!

Posted in Aidpage User Support Group on Feb 13, 2008

have you checked into financial aid for college? Go get advise from a community college finacial advisor. Also check at your local lib. there are tons of reference books on scholarships for all kinds of majors and people. Have you checked into temp services when there's not construction work? A temp job might open up a whole new avenue for you. And tell the temp service you are willing to try new jobs besides construction. I've worked at temp jobs before and actually got hired on by the place I was tempting at. And if you get hired on full time, a lot of the places have tuition assistance. Some temp services also have comp skills training free for their employees. Good luck!

Comment on: please help Tommy, nothing hurts more than bad teeth.

Hello I definitely know how it feels to have a bad toothache. Have you thought about getting a second opinion? Reason I say that is, I have gotten 3 opinions from 3 dif dentists before. I went with the third because he found not as many problems as the other dentists( I know they were exaggerating it's sad) and he cost less. The work he did on my teeth was great. Also if his teeth are that bad maybe instead of all the root canals and crowns it would be better and cheaper to get them all pulled and go for false teeth. Maybe save the ones that just need fillings and get a partial for the ones that need to be pulled. Also, you should check into your county hospital or dental schools in the area, they can often help for much cheaper. Good luck!

Help for counseling

Posted in Aidpage User Support Group on Feb 13, 2008

Hello, Gee after reading many of the posts my need doesn't seem that great. Maybe someone still can help or help point me in the right direction. I am looking for psychological counseling for my major depression at a very reasonable fee. I am a veteran with 50% disability for my depression. I have tried to get counseling through the va but it is very hard since there are so many in need. They have set me up on monthly visits to a psych. nurse but I need at least once a week. On top of that my first appt was canceled by the va. I do work part time but my job doesn't have any benefits. I am living paycheck to paycheck. So I have sought help at many places but they still want too much. I cannot afford 150 an hr 4 times a month. One place said I could get free counseling if I had an a drug addiction. I really thought about lying so I could get it but I just couldn't do it. The va has tried me on several dif meds for depression and still looking for one to help out more. But I truelly believe I could get a lot better if I could get some counseling. If anyone can help or help point me in the right direction I would be so grateful.
